Sweeps Guide

It is recommended that your chimney is swept at least once a year to keep it in a safe working condition. Without regular sweeping, soot and tar can build up causing corrosion and unfortunately this can sometimes lead to chimney fires. Maintenance is necessary for your chimney to avoid damage to in the flue which can cause hazardous gasses to escape into the room.

  • Smokeless Fuels – At least once a year
  • Coal – At least once a year
  • Wood – Quarterly when in use
  • Oil – Once a year
  • Gas – Once a year
  • Arga Flues – Once a year
  • Jetmasters – Once a year
  • Malty Burners – Once a year
  • Rayburns – Once a year

Always make sure your wood is well seasoned, this means cut and stored for over a year.
